Adalina Coromines
Born in 1963 in Barcelona, Adalina Coromines is a contemporary Spanish artist whose work is deeply rooted in environmental awareness and inspired by nature. A self-taught artist, she has developed a highly personal visual language through years of experimentation with natural materials and mixed techniques. Today, her work is shown internationally across Europe and the United States.
Her paintings and sculptures explore the relationship between matter, light, and time, translating natural phenomena into tactile, poetic compositions.
Adalina Coromines works with mixed techniques, combining different types of soil, natural pigments, and binders to create textured surfaces that evoke cracked earth, mineral layers, and organic landscapes. Through the use of bas-relief techniques, her works gain depth and physical presence, inviting the viewer to experience the artwork beyond the visual.
Water, earth, light, reflections, and subtle shifts of color are recurring elements in her practice. These components interact on the surface, creating geometric yet organic structures that mirror the rhythms and fragility of the natural world.
Her creative process is slow and intuitive. Materials are layered, eroded, and reworked, allowing chance and natural reactions to shape the final result. The surface becomes a landscape in itself, marked by traces of time, transformation, and balance.
In her work, Coromines seeks harmony between control and spontaneity, between structured form and organic movement. Each piece becomes a quiet reflection on nature, sustainability, and the invisible forces that shape our environment.
Adalina Coromines lives and works in Mas Bancells, a restored farmhouse in the Baix Empordà region of Girona. Together with her husband, designer Joan Lao, she renovated the space, transforming it into both a home and a place of creation deeply connected to the surrounding landscape.
This close relationship with nature is fundamental to her artistic vision and daily practice.
Her work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions, as well as major international art fairs such as Kunstrai, LA Art Show, Art Market San Francisco, Contemporary Istanbul, and Art Madrid.
Her work is represented by institutions and galleries including the Fundació Vila Casas in Palafrugell and Galerie Didier Abbeloos in Belgium.
